Association for the Advancement of Animal Breeding and GeneticS
UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND
27 OCT - 1 NOV 2019
The Association for the Advancement of Animal Breeding and Genetics is a professional organisation based in Australia and New Zealand for livestock scientists, breeders, educators, students and industry service providers. The major activity conducted by AAABG to achieve its objectives is an international conference held at approximately two year intervals. The next conference will be held in Armidale, New South Wales from Sunday 27 October to Friday 1st November, 2019.
We feel this particular conference is a little special. It has been 40 years since the first conference for AAABG was held in 1979 in Armidale at UNE, guided by the then new organisation’s local steering committee. Since then, Armidale has become a centre of excellence for agricultural and livestock research through UNE and DPI, hosting the Beef, Sheep and Poultry CRCs, as well as home to Sheep Genetics, the CSIRO’s McMaster Laboratory site, ABRI, numerous cattle breed societies and the surrounding grazing industries. To celebrate this Ruby Anniversary we hope to provide an extended program of interest for all our members, introducing a new student workshop and some additional days for content of interest to breeders.
We look forward to welcoming you to Armidale for the 23rd AAABG Conference.
